About us
Did you know it's community history month in May? Come and find out more about the history of Stoke and Blockhouse Park in our fun, family-orientated session focusing on the past of our community.
Rachel Dobbs will be leading our stroll through the park, sharing the knowledge that she has gained during the Blockhouse Folk project, working with local experts and through time spent listening to the stories of people from Stoke who have kindly shared their memories.
As there will be time outside, please dress appropriately as it can be quite windy in the park. If it's wet, we will explore the information together inside the community centre instead.
We will also be adding to our own community history, by installing shelter for bugs in the new children's wildlife garden area on the Village Square. We are hoping to make a positive difference to the wildlife in our area, helping them to thrive alongside our community, and inspire change for future generations too.
If history, or bugs, isn't your child's thing, don't worry, we will have some crafty and sensory activities to get involved with inside too.
Snacks will be provided, alongside a nice cup of tea.
Can't wait to see you there!
Culture Club is a monthly event that involve food, crafts, and arts and are themed around seasonality and culture. They are FREE to attend for Village Hub Members who live in Stoke and Morice Town. Donations are welcome from other visitors.
Blockhouse Folk: Past, Present and Future a two year project by The Village Hub to uncover and celebrate social and natural heritage in the area around Blockhouse Park (which includes the Stoke, Morice Town & Ford neighbourhoods of Plymouth, UK) made possible with funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
