About us
Join Plymouth in commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE) Day with a spectacular celebration on Plymouth Hoe.
The day begins at 10.30am with a flag-raising ceremony, coinciding with ships in Plymouth Sound, followed by a Full Parade of Standards and a Royal Navy Guard.
Entertainment starts from 11am and runs until 5pm, with picnic benches, stalls, entertainment, and Commonwealth Wargraves Tours and vintage vehicles.
As the evening unfolds, an exciting concert will begin from 5.30pm, with the lineup to be confirmed. The day culminates with a Sunset Guard ceremony and the lighting of the Beacon at 8.40pm, a poignant moment to reflect on the significance of VE Day.
Host your own street party
Plymouth City Council is waiving fees for road closures for street parties on 8 to 11 May. The deadline to apply for a road closure is 11 April.
Read the guide on organising a street party on GOV.UK, and more information on events is available on the VE | VJ 80 website
If you are not able to arrange a formal road closure, you may be able to have an informal Street Meet. Guidance can be found on Street Party's 'Street Meets’ website.
