About us

Join the Lynher Barge Captain and become his crew! You will be transported back in time to the late 1890s when Tamar Barges were the fastest means of transport.

You will learn the skills required to move cargo whilst dressed in Victorian costume. The session will take place at Cotehele Quay aboard the Lynher Barge where you will learn the skills required by the barge crew, from ropework to crane handling and the loading of cargo aboard Lynher.

You will also experience making a real Victorian meal made out of seasonal produce from the Tamar Valley.
