About us
The Many Deaths of Michael Malloy is an exciting immersive musical set in a New York speakeasy during prohibition, taking place within the former victualling yard's historic Melville building. Guests will be ushered into the Blind Pig – a 1930s prohibition-era bar – where live music plays and illicit cocktails flow.
A first for the city, the production is billed as an immersive comedy musical, and it is written by local Plymouth playwright Richard Johnson. Original songs have been created by Rolfe Kent, a renowned award-winning composer and producer. Nominated for Emmy, Grammy, and Golden Globe awards, he has created music for countless Hollywood blockbusters including Sideways and Legally Blonde, and composed the title music for the TV series Dexter.
The Many Deaths of Michael Malloy tells the story of Iron Mike, who was famously dubbed 'the man who wouldn't die.' Back in 1933, three friends cooked up a life insurance scam, hoping that Mike would die and they'd all get rich. No matter what they did, their efforts were thwarted and hopes of an easy payday dwindled. The show explores what happens when the friends find their morals pushed to the limit, and uncovers the fate of the man standing in the way of their future.
The show runs from May 4th – June 30th, Thursday to Sunday at 7pm with a matinee on Saturdays at 3pm. Guests are invited to come as they are or enter into the spirit and dress accordingly.
