A quintessentially British tradition, afternoon tea dates back to the 1840s. A traditional afternoon tea will typically include sandwiches and savoury treats, scones with jam and clotted cream, delicious cakes and tarts, and of course, tea! But there’s now a huge range of variations on this traditional meal and Plymouth has plenty to offer.

The South West is of course famous for its cream teas (cream first, then jam when you’re in Devon!), and with scones being a key part of a proper afternoon tea, there are plenty of places in Plymouth to indulge in these traditional treats with friends and family.

Here are our suggestions for the best places to enjoy afternoon tea in Plymouth.
