Watch the big switch on!

Head to Southside Street for the long-awaited moment at around 5pm! Santa Claus, this year's Community Hero, the Deputy Lord Mayor and special guest Andy Ford who plays Muddles in Theatre Royal Plemouth's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs pantomime, will be flicking the switch to start the Christmas celebrations on the Barbican.

             

Watch the Gables Dog Show

The Gables Dog Show is back again! Starting at 2pm on West Pier (opposite the Tourist Information Centre) enter your dog to be in with a chance of winning a rossette! Classes include, Prettiest Girl; Handsomest Boy; Most Appealing Eyes; Waggiest Tail; Happiest Hound; Most Talented Trick; Dog The Judge Would Like to Take Home and Best Dressed Christmas Pooch.

    

Look out for the Grinch

Keep your eyes open for the Grinch who will be wandering the streets of The Barbican playing his usual tricks in order to try and sabotage the Christmas Lights Switch On. Ask nicely and he may pose for a picture!

    

Meet Santa

You can meet Santa Claus himself at his Grotto on the Barbican. Make sure to bring your Christmas lists with you so he knows what to bring you on Christmas Day. Pre-booking your slot is highly advised to avoid disappointment.

     

Say hello to the roaming acts

There's plenty of unmissable acts to see throughout the streets during the day! Look out for Far the Flung Dance Puppets as well as Morris Dancers who will be onsite to see!

           

Watch Santa arrive by boat

Santa is ditching his sleigh for an RNLI boat on the day as he makes his way across the water to turn on the Christmas lights! Look to the Barbican Landing Stage at around 4.30pm for his arrival in the unmissable RNLI craft!

      

Christmas Storytelling

Don't miss the festive storytelling at The Maritime Inn during the day. Christmas fairies will be telling magical tales every hour from 12pm-4pm. Grab a hot chocolate and settle in for some iconic seasonal stories.

      

Marvel at the magical lights

Once the big switch on has taken place, why not explore the magical lights around The Barbican! Southside Street and the surrounding areas will be covered with thousands of pretty lights to admire.
