There are plenty of things to do on a rainy day in Plymouth. Just because we are situated beside the sea, sadly doesn't mean we can always guarantee sunshine.
Fortunately, there are loads of things to do under shelter in Plymouth if the rain clouds are out. Check out some of our suggestions on how you can spend the day.
National Marine Aquarium
Take a journey through the oceans at the National Marine Aquarium. Home to more than 4,000 underwater animals, discover wildlife from the shores of Plymouth Sound to the Great Barrier Reef.

The Box Museum
Shelter from the rain at Plymouth's award-winning The Box Museum just a short walk from the main city centre.
Home to thousands of incredible artefacts and items that tell a remarkable story of Plymouth's past. A visit to the museum is a must to discover facts about Britain's Ocean City over the years. Entry to The Box, and the many amazing exhibitions here are free.
Market Hall
Experience an incredible interactive performance at Market Hall's fully immersive dome.
The only one of its kind in Europe, the 15m, 360° dome is an incredible spectacle with live shows varying from underwater displays to space missions. Visit Market Hall's website to discover upcoming live shows set to amaze.
Mayflower Museum
If you're on The Barbican take a trip to the Mayflower Museum and take a trip through time to discover amazing facts about the ship and its sailors that shaped history.
Spanning across three floors, the museum tells the story of the iconic sip which sailed off to the New World from Plymouth's Mayflower Steps in 1620. Find out where they sailed to in America, what life was like on board and the legacy of The Mayflower across the years.
Drake Circus, The Barcode
There are plenty of indoor things to do at Drake Circus, The Barcode. Situated bang in Plymouth city centre, adjacent to Drake Circus Shopping Centre, the complex is home to an array of delightful dining options, great interactive gameplay venues and an IMAX cinema.
Challenge your friends to a game of golf at the tropic-themed Paradise Island Adventure Golf and navigate your way around the treacherous greens in the fewest shots possible.
Visit Spinners, where you can chance your arm at virtual reality clay pigeon shooting, duckpin bowling or darts. Hang out with friends at the funky Boom Battle Bar where you can have a game of pool, axe-throwing or sing away the night in a karaoke booth.
Alternatively, you can catch a film at the IMAX Cineworld Cinema, with 12 state-of-the-art screens and a 4DX quality screen it's a top place to check out the latest blockbusters.
