It's been a while but we've finally got another Bank Holiday Weekend to look forward to!

As ever there is plenty of things to do in Plymouth on The Bank Holiday weekend with days out, festivals, fun things to do and amazing attractions to see in the city over the extra long weekend.

Take a look at some of the top things to get up to this Bank Holiday Weekend.

Discover the wonders of the West End Carnival!

Returning to the streets of Plymouth City Centre, the West End Carnival is a great way to celebrate the start of the Bank Holiday Weekend on Satruday 24 August. Starting from 11am, join the Canrival vibes in the city centre for a day of free family-friendly fun in and around the streets of The West End.

There are plenty of things to do during the event, including live shows, music performances, a tricky carnival trail and who could forget the carnival parade which will make its way through the streets of the city centre. This year's carnival theme is Dragons and Mythical Beasts, so look out for the giant Ash the Dragon who will be flapping his way around the area!

Have a day out at Central Park Fun Day

Back by popular demand, the Central Park Fun Day returns to Plymouth on Sunday 25 August!

Hosted in the gorgeous green fields of Central Park, the day is packed with fun things to see and do! Discover more than 80 local traders selling handmade crafts or homemade dishes! Rock on to live music with a number of performances during the afternoon, and even check out the Gables Dog Show where you can cheer on some adorable four-legged contestants.

Climb Smeaton's Tower

Ascend one of Plymouth's most iconic attractions this Bank Holiday Weekend!

Smeaton's Tower is an unmissable landmark on Plymouth Hoe and a trip to the top is a must on your visit to the city.

Climb the narrow steps and ladders to be rewarded with stunning views out into Plymouth Sound and across the city.

Dine out for an al fresco meal!

What better way to soak up the sun and the amazing views of Plymouth than a delicious meal outdoors?

Plymouth is home to a vast variety of restaurants with al fresco dining facilities. Whether you're by the hustle and bustle of The Barbican, the sumptuous views of Sutton Harbour, the historic and iconic Plymouth Hoe or even the gorgeous Royal William Yard, there are plenty of places to dine in the sunshine this weekend!

Take a look at some of Plymouth's top al fresco dining spots. Booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

Embark on a tour of the UK's oldest gin distillery

Discover the UK's oldest working Gin Distillery at Plymouth Gin this weekend!

The distillery on Southside Street on The Barbican has been distilling gin since 1793, although the building dates back to the early 1400s with the oldest part of the building!

Various tours are available of the distillery where you can even distill some of your very own gin to take home a taste of Plymouth!

Activities at Royal William Yard

As it has done throughout the summer, The Royal William Yard is hosting free activities to take part in on the weekend!

On Saturday the Yard is hosting a puppet-making session on the green where you'll be able to make your very own under-the-sea puppet. The activity is perfect for kids aged 3+ and must be booked in advance.

The event is available to partake in from 2-5pm in the afternoon.

The fun doesn't stop there because on Sunday a day of free-mini golf will be open to all to try on the green. Put your skills to the test and score a hole-in-one this Sunday 25 August from 11am-2pm.

Take on a Plymouth Trail!

Explore the city this Bank Holiday Weekend with the free-to-download Plymouth Trails App.

The app features an array of themed trails which take you on various trips around the city, highlighting key landmarks and offering fascinating insights and facts that you may not have known about Plymouth.

One of the great features of the app is the 'then and now' mode which lets you visualise what Plymouth may have been like in years gone by.
