From glorious saltwater swimming pools to floating pontoons in Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, there are plenty of places to head for a dip this Summer.

Tinside Lido
It would be a crime not to start this blog off with Tinside Lido. Situated on the waterfront on Plymouth Hoe, the art-deco-designed Lido is the icing on the cake of Plymouth's marvellous waterfront. Open for the summer months only, the Lido, which has been recently named among the UK's best according to The Times, it's a great saltwater pool to plunge into this summer. Due to popularity, the pool can get very busy during holidays/weekends therefore booking ahead via their website is advised to avoid disappointment.
Mount Wise Swimming Pool
Make a splash at Mount Wise Swimming Pools this summer. The free-to-enter pools are situated right next to the entrance of the Tamar estuary and boast stunning views across to Mount Edgcumbe, Royal William yard and out onto The Sound.
There are a variety of saltwaterpools at Mount Wise, including a family-friendly 25-metre length pool, a fun pool with fountains and a whirlpool plus, a small pool for children to paddle in and build their confidence in the water.
The Pontoons
Look out into Tinside Cove and it's impossible not to notice two floating pontoons on the water. These swimming pontoons are placed at differing lengths to cater for swimmers of different abilities. Equipped with fluorescent ladders which can easily be spotted from the land or in the water, they are a great way of cooling off this summer.
Firestone Bay Tidal Pool
Take a dip in the tidal pool at Firestone Bay this Summer. The natural pool is an idyllic location for a dip with stunning views across the Sound.
Located near the Royal William Yard, park up at Devil's Point and head down for a splash then head into the yard for a pst-swim coffee or bite to eat!
Bovisand Beach
A short drive up the Devon coast from Plymouth is the quaint cove of Boivisand Beach. The dog-friendly beach is packed with luscious sand and is a great venue for a paddle in the water. Bigbury on Sea
Cool off at the magnificent Bigbury on Sea Beach. Home to the iconic Burgh Island, this expansive beach has plenty of water to jump into this summer. With stunning views down the Devon coast and ample shallow water to paddle in plus rockpools to explore, it's a must-visit location this summer.
