Show your support for Commando Gunners
This Saturday 14 May, head to Royal Parade at 11am for a spectacular parade as 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery, based in the Royal Citadel on Plymouth Hoe, celebrate their 60th anniversary. Around 1,000 veterans are expected to join 300 serving troops in the parade, which will also include a marching band and some of the regiment’s equipment. Come along to show your support!
Get involved at Comic Con
Whichever fandom is your favourite, there’s something to enjoy at Plymouth Comic Con and Gaming Festival which takes place at the Life Centre on Saturday 14 May. There’s loads of exhibitors to meet and props to see, including items from Stranger Things and Harry Potter.
Treat yourself at a food festival
It’s time for another Good Food Sunday at Home Park this weekend. Head down between 10am and 3pm on Sunday 15 May to sample some of the very best local produce on offer in the South West.
Sample The Box’s new menu
Head to The Box Kitchen & Bar to try out the new spring menu. Brunch is served all day from 10am to 4pm with veggie and vegan options as well as a traditional full English breakfast. The daytime menu (served 12pm to 8pm on Friday and Saturday) features light bites, salads, burgers and sweet treats. There’s no need to book, so just drop in and while you’re there explore all the amazing exhibitions currently open at the museum!
Splash about in the lido
It’s been voted one of Europe’s top ten outdoor pools and now Tinside Lido has reopened for the summer! Go for a dip in the stunning art deco lido and enjoy the views out over Plymouth Sound.
Plymouth is easily accessible by train with a wide range of services running from a variety of locations within England. Although some services may require a change or two.
Travelling from London takes around 3 hours with Great Western Railway, if you're coming from the north, the trip from Manchester can take 5 hours 15 minutes.
