The Man Who Wanted To Be A Penguin
1 December to 22 January 2022, Theatre Royal Plymouth
This is the story of an extraordinary explorer, a curious conjurer and pioneering problem-solver. With a playful energy and a mix of puppetry, music and song, this show will be a delightful celebration of wild creativity and the joy of individuality. Waddle on down and join the expedition! This family show is suitable for everyone aged 3+.
The Christmas Mouse
8 to 24 December, Stiltskin Soapbox Children’s Theatre
Featuring snowy scenes, colourful characters and enthralling puppets that will catch toddlers’ attention, this is specifically designed as a festive treat for under 5s.
The Magic Lantern and the Story Thief
5 to 31 December, Stiltskin Soapbox Children’s Theatre
Wrap up warm to enjoy this festive outdoor show in the amphitheatre in Devonport Park. Set in a Dickensian world where nothing is quite as it seems, stories will be brought to life by the light of the lantern in a way that will ignite young imaginations on dark winter nights. This show will delight everyone over the age of 4.

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? Family members of all ages will charmed by this delightfully escapist musical as the brand new production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas comes to Plymouth direct from the West End. It’s a timeless, heart-warming romantic comedy featuring classic songs.
Aladdin
17 December 2021 to 15 January 2022, Theatre Royal Plymouth
It simply wouldn’t be Christmas without a panto! Enjoy traditional festive fun with laugh-out-loud comedy, stunning scenery, beautiful costumes and plenty of boos and hisses. Follow Aladdin, his brother Wishee Washee, and of course his mother Widow Twankey, on a spectacular adventure. Expect flying carpets, a wish-granting genie, an evil sorcerer and a lamp-full of laughs in this year’s pantomime, starring comedian Joe Pasquale.

Sleighing It
15 to 23 December, Barbican Theatre
End the year with a big glittery bang! A light-hearted Christmas cabaret style show celebrating the best talent in the South West, expect everything from musicians, comedians and dance acts to drag artists and burlesque performances. There are 14 performances in total – any at 7pm are more family friendly, but the 9pm showings will feature cheekier content that’s only suitable for adults.

3 December, The Green Taverners Suite at Plymouth Argyle
