Plymouth Market is 60

Share our fantastic 60^th anniversary of the opening of Plymouth Market’s now Grade II Listed building, way back in 1959 in Cornwall Street. In conjunction with the independent shopping quarter of the West End and the City Centre Company, we are holding what promises to be a fabulous event this Saturday 31^st August, with fun and entertainment for all the family.

  

   

Something for everyone  

Whether you like live music, trying new tastes or being stalked by giant seagulls, Plymouth Market is the place to be this Saturday. We’ve a packed schedule of entertainment from local bands on the Radio Plymouth stage to incredible circus-skilled performers, juggling on a unicycle and breathing with fire.

We’ve also got a breath-taking display of classic cars on view, perfect if you’re a bit of a petrolhead. If getting a little active is more your thing, then join in the dance with Mi Salsa Cubana, who’ll be showing off some Latino moves and getting everyone on their feet to join in. And the rhythm is also going to get you when the fantastic Brazilian Samba band, Samba Kurnow, start their dynamic drumming outside the Market.

  

   

Listen to local favourites, Joey The Lips, for free!

Joey The Lips is one of the top bands in the Southwest and they are going to be joining us on the Radio Plymouth stage in Frankfort Gate to get everyone in the party mood with their upbeat, fun and infectious music. And if a little bit of classic Beatles is more your thing, then you are definitely in for a treat and a singalong with the fab two Blue Beatles.

  

   

Celebrations inside Plymouth Market

Jacques Marchal will be cooking up a storm in the Market and showing you lots of great ideas using fresh produce from our traders, offering a little taste of how good our ingredients are for free. You may have to fight off some giant seagulls though, who will be patrolling the Market aisles, along with some of the characters from the epic Star Wars films! For the little ones, there will be all their firm favourites, including face painting, Billy Whiz and a colouring competition.

Whilst you’re enjoying the event, make sure you take a little time out to sample some of the fantastic eateries in the Market, offering traditional fayre through to pizza, sweet waffles, noodles and more. It’s also the perfect opportunity to browse our stalls and see what an incredible range of stalls and products we have on sale. Keep an eye out for special stallholder offers too, throughout the Market.
