As the clocks go back this weekend, the days will start getting shorter and colder too. But don’t despair, there’s still lots to enjoy in Plymouth throughout November – here are our top picks.
Enjoy the best winter events
Remember, remember the fifth of November – with one of the biggest bonfires in Plymouth! Head to Plymouth Hoe on Monday 5 November for a huge bonfire and spectacular fireworks display from the Citadel.
Later in the month, indulge in some festive fun with the Christmas Lights switch-ons in the city centre (15 November) and Barbican (25 November).
Then from 22 to 25 November, Royal William Yard will be brought to life for Illuminate. The historic Yard will be filled with light installations, projections and performances - it's sure to be a magical evening.
Laugh yourself silly
Chase away winter blues with belly laughs at a comedy night. The hilarious Tom Allen will be bringing his sharp wit and unique style of storytelling to the Red House Theatre on 11 November, while Larry Dean – fresh from his Live at the Apollo debut – will fill the Barbican Theatre with laughter on 2 November.
See a show
Escape from the cold, dark evenings by stepping into a whole other world. There’s a brilliant line-up of shows on offer, including Shrek the Musical at the Theatre Royal for family fun and the classic story of Dirty Dancing at Plymouth Pavilions.
Take the family for a walk
Wrap up warm and explore Plymouth’s stunning waterfront with the whole family. November is your last chance to follow the Starfish Trail around Sutton Harbour – pick up a trail map from the Tourist Information Centre or the National Marine Aquarium then hunt for the eight giant starfish situated around the harbour.
Everyone who completes the trail can enter online to win one of the amazing monthly prizes too. Enter by 31 October to be in with a chance of winning a LEGO Star Wars Millenium Flacon and cuddly toys from the Aquarium, or enter during November to win an Amazon Fire Kids Table and Family Annual Pass for the Aquarium.
Keep warm and cosy
From cosy pubs with open fires to independent cafes serving up impressive hot chocolates, Plymouth’s food and drink scene has loads to offer this winter. Check out our recent blog post for more inspiration.
