The clocks have gone forward and spring is finally here (hopefully with no more surprise snow flurries!). We’ve pulled together some suggestions for fun things to do in Plymouth over the Easter weekend and during the school holidays to keep the whole family entertained …
Go on an egg hunt
It wouldn’t be Easter without one! Head to Plymouth Market between Friday 30 March and Sunday 7 April, where 20 eggs with different names have been hidden around the market. Find the names of all 20 to be in with a chance of winning a whole hamper of chocolatey goods!
Or take a trip to House of Fraser on Good Friday and Easter Saturday to take part in their egg hunt. Collect an entry form on the ground floor and take a trip around the store hunting for clues – once you’ve found them all head to the fourth floor to collect an Easter treat!
Play Barbican Easter Bunny Bingo
Collect your free bingo cards from the Tourist Information Centre from Good Friday to Easter Monday and head off to eggsplore the historic Barbican! A sweet treat awaits for every completed bingo sheet and you’ll be entered into a competition to win a £100 voucher for a family photo shoot.
Take a trip to Wonderland
Head to the Royal William Yard on Easter Sunday to join Alice in Wonderland at a lively tea party on the lawn. There’ll be a special appearance from street performer, Rimski’s Bicycle Piano, plus the popular Good Food Market will be running so you can pick up some tasty local produce.
Say hello to Peter Rabbit
Pop into Drake Circus on Tuesday 10 April to see their special guest, Peter Rabbit – then why not head to Reel or Vue cinema to enjoy his new film?
Explore the underwater world
The National Marine Aquarium has lots going on over the Easter holidays, so make sure you dive in and explore! Learn all about sharks and rays between 31 March – 15 April in the Easter Games. Visitors can take part in fun challenges and activities, then meet the Aquarium’s famous shark and ray family.
The Aquarium have also recently launched their new family-friendly Boat Trips, so you can explore Plymouth Sound and discover the wonders of the ocean with their team of marine biologists and ocean conservationists. The next boat trip is on Saturday 7 April and has limited spaces, so book in advance to make sure you don’t miss out.
Get into the carnival spirit
Help Café Brasil – on Cornwall Street in the city centre – celebrate their first birthday! From midday on Saturday 31 March you can enjoy music, martial arts and Brazilian dancing, then tuck into some delicious coffee and authentic food.
