About us

Located in the heart of Britain's Ocean City, the New Continental Hotel is Plymouth’s largest independent, family-run hotel. Perfectly positioned, our central location makes it easy to explore Plymouth’s many maritime and cultural attractions.

We are proud to be at the heart of a city we love, offering a warm, professional welcome in a Grade II listed building that has been a part of Plymouth’s history for over 150 years.

Accommodation

Our 99 beautifully designed bedrooms and bathrooms provide ample space to relax and unwind. Guests can choose from a variety of room types to suit their needs, including delightful doubles, romantic four-poster beds, tremendous twins, spacious family rooms accommodating three, four, or five guests, and roomy singles. Whether you’re visiting for business, a romantic getaway, or a family holiday, we have the perfect room for you.

Dining at Steve’s Brasserie

Opened in 2010 and named after Steve Hajiyianni, who acquired the New Continental Hotel in 1984, Steve’s Brasserie offers quality dining for both guests and non-guests. The spacious yet intimate restaurant features a warm, inviting atmosphere and a menu crafted with fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local suppliers. From traditional classics to unique culinary creations, our dishes reflect the rich agricultural and fishing traditions of the West Country.

Club Continental

Our exclusive leisure complex, Club Continental, is available to all hotel guests free of charge, seven days a week. Guests can enjoy a heated indoor pool, a sauna and steam room, and two air-conditioned gyms. It’s the perfect way to unwind during your stay.

Prime Location

With over 80 parking spaces, the New Continental Hotel is ideally situated for exploring Plymouth. Take a short stroll to the enchanting historic waterfront, with its stunning vistas, or visit the vibrant city centre, where you’ll find a mix of independent retailers, national brands, and high-street names. Just across the road, discover the South West’s premier arts venues, Theatre Royal Plymouth and Plymouth Pavilions.

Award-Winning Hospitality

As a third-generation family business, the Hajiyianni family is passionate about creating memorable experiences for every guest. We are proud recipients of several prestigious awards, including the Plymouth Herald Business Awards for Tourism & Hospitality Business of the Year 2016, City & Waterfront Accommodation Provider of the Year 2016, and Family Business of the Year 2015.

Whether visiting Plymouth for leisure or business, the New Continental Hotel combines exceptional hospitality, modern amenities, and a deep connection to the city’s history. We look forward to welcoming you!
