How to get to Pirates

By Foot
From the traffic lights at the centre of Royal Parade, head south towards the sea, passing the Plymouth Guildhall on your left. Cross the road at Princess Street and head towards Notte Street. Cross at the traffic lights and turn left and head towards the entrance of Southside Street. The distance from the centre of Royal Parade to the entrance to Southside Street and it’s approximately 500m.
By Bus
Make use of the FREE Aargh & Ride shuttle bus (No. 25P) for Pirates Weekend.
The service will run on a 45 minute loop, beginning at the Royal William Yard, stopping at Union Street Post Office, Connexions, Royal Parade, Batter Street/Vauxhall Street, Lambhay Hill, The Belvedere, West Hoe Post Office and back to the Royal William Yard.
It is a double decker City Bus, wheelchair friendly and is free of charge for users. This will operate between the hours of 11am – 6.30pm on Saturday and 12:30-6.30pm on Sunday and is seperate from the regular no.25 service. Check out the route for the Aargh and Ride shuttle Bus.
The usual number 25 service is still in use but will follow a diversion route from the city centre around the waterfront between the hours of 09.00 and 16.30 on the Saturday and 12:00 and 16.30pm on the Sunday due to the Pirates Weekend and Fun Run event. Temporary bus stops will be put in place on Lambhay Hill to accommodate this. View the route for the number 25 bus.
By Train
Travel with GWR to Plymouth train station which is 1.7km from the Barbican and Sutton Harbour.
By Taxi
Take a taxi to the Barbican and Sutton Harbour. The nearest taxi rank is by the Basket Ope flats during Pirates Weekend.
By Water
Jump on board the yellow water taxi from Mount Batten into the Barbican Landing Stage at Commercial Wharf.
Plymouth Boat Trips run a number of ferry services between the Barbican, Royal William Yard and Mount Edgcumbe; between the Barbican and Cawsand in Cornwall; and the Cremyll ferry. Seasonal timetables do apply, please check before you travel.

By Bike
Take a ride along Plymouth’s stunning Waterfront on the National Cycle Network routes 2 and 27 to reach the Barbican and Sutton Harbour.

By Car
Join the A38 Devon Expressway to Plymouth and follow signs for Sutton Harbour and the Barbican.
There are more than 20 car parks in and around Plymouth city centre, the Barbican and Sutton Harbour, providing thousands of parking spaces for visitors.
There is also 2 hours free parking at Queen Anne’s Battery.

Please note Southside Street and the Parade area will be closed to traffic and parking between 9.30am to 4.30pm during Pirates Weekend (Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May).
Road Closures
Additional road closures will take place on Sunday 18 May between the hours of 9am and 12pm, to accommodate the Jeremiah’s Journey Pirate Fun Run. The roads affected are: Hoegate Street, Lambhay Hill, Hoe Road, Madeira Road.
