About us
Plymouth College of Art's Postgraduate Centre is home to an active, cross-disciplinary community of makers and thinkers, whose work emerges from a dialogue between art, craft and design disciplines, informed by the core values of Plymouth College of Art—the purposeful exploration of the relationship between creative learning and social justice.
Featuring painting, drawing, sculptural installation, moving image, design, glass and ceramics, MA Show 2019 will present postgraduate research projects undertaken within our specialist community of practice and across our MA programmes, including MA Disruptive Design, MA Fine Art, MA Painting, MA Drawing, MA Printmaking, MA Illustration, MA Photography, MA Ceramics, MA Textile Design, MA Visual Communication, MA Creative Education, and MA Entrepreneurship for Creative Practice.
Highlights (to name a few) include;
The work of designer Laura Quinn who, using 3D printing and glass blowing, subverts the commonly conceived restraints of her material to create wearable, movable glass jewellery.
The Exwick Curiosity Club, a community learning group set up by Pete Kingston, in which the members are all teachers and all learners.
MA Disruptive Design student and ethical designer Essi Peuhkuri whose work reshapes perceptions surrounding fashion consumption and branding.
The work of illustrator Hannah Mumby exploring how illustration can engage with psychoanalytic ideas to take up a more subversive position in relation to storytelling and narrativisation.
See these projects and more at our biggest MA Show yet! Follow our cohort of MA students on Instagram @pca_ma.
We will hold the Private View (invitation only) celebrating our practitioners work and achievements on Friday 6 September, 6-9pm. During the evening, we're pleased to announce that food will be available to purchase from Four Elements, who will be situated outside Studio 11.
The show is then open to the public from 7 - 12 September 2019 (free and open to all).
