On Saturday September 29 1990 the Spanish artist Antonio López begins to prepare the canvas for a painting of a quince tree in his garden. The film is a portrait of the celebrated painter as he paints and is a study in quiet, meticulous, creative process. The film offers perspectives on everything from artistic vision, realism, painting, film to life, mortality and possibility of eternal rebirth. There is a mesmerising intensity to the film which seems to convey the distilled essence of the act of painting itself.Director: Victor Erice
