About us

A parade of 40 fabulously colourful and unique elephants will take you on a trail around the beautiful city of Plymouth and surrounding areas this summer!

Pick up your trail map from any St Luke's Hospice Shop in Plymouth or the Barbican Tourist Information Centre and begin exploring! You can also download the official Elmer Plymouth app from the App Store or Google Play now, to keep track of all the Elmers you've discovered and grab some great local discounts!

From the hustle and bustle of the city streets to the peace and grandeur of the Hoe, and from the green spaces of Plymouth to the spectacular coastline; Elmer’s Big Parade will navigate you around Britain’s Ocean City and across the river to Mount Edgcumbe.

Alongside the original Elmer, there are 40 sculptures on parade, each featuring a unique design created by some of our amazing local artists, both well-known and emerging.

There is also a mini trail at Mount Edgcumbe, with 25 smaller Elmers which have been designed by local school childrenm

This is a fantastic opportunity to explore all the city has to offer whilst being enchanted, inspired and amazed by the sculptures themselves.

At the end of the summer, each of the beautifully designed Elmers will be auctioned to raise funds for St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth. St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth is working in partnership with Wild in Art and Andersen Press to bring this mass participation, family friendly, art trail to life, featuring the much beloved children’s character of Elmer, by Devon born artist and author David McKee.
