About us

Local promoters A Press of Suspects {presents} return to Plymouth University's Student Union to bring a fresh batch of top notch comics! Once again it's NOT JUST FOR STUDENTS!

With a specially curated lineup and cheap as chips entry, this promises to be an absolute cracking evening! Rising star Chelsea Birkby is your phenomenal headlining act…

Chelsea Birkby: Chelsea Birkby is a multi-competition finalist (So You Think You're Funny, Leicester Square New Comedian, Bath New Act 3rd Place, New Online Comedian 2nd Place), shortlisted for BBC New Act and "one to watch" Funny Women. Chelsea has performed in top UK clubs (The Stand, Backyard, Komedia, Angel), is a regular at multi-award-winning Jericho Comedy and the Oxfordshire Mind Gala, and was a guest at Cheltenham Literary Festival. She has performed in Paris and in New York and has written for Mock the Week. Her jokes featured in the top 20 jokes of the Edinburgh fringe 2022 in both The Telegraph and The Times and has featured on BBC Radio 4 Extra, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio Scotland and featured on BBC Radio 4 Today Programme. In 2022, she took her debut hour No More Mr Nice Chelsea to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It received the Amused Moose Best Debut Award and was shortlisted for the Comedian's Choice Award for Best Show.

Alex Farrow: Alex uses stand-up comedy to explore the funny side of philosophy. He has been on BBC Radio 4's Comedy Club Extra. His show 'Bat Chat' was the first stand-up show of 2021 and formed the basis for his critically acclaimed show 'Philosophy Pig'. Alex's philosophy themed solo shows sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019 and 2021. The Comedy Clubs that Alex runs have been recommended in the Sunday Times recently and were voted one of the top 6 comedy nights in the UK in the Chortle 2019 and 2020 awards
Kev Mud: After a life of living on and off the streets, Kev is now hiding away in a caravan on a sheep field. Surreal, warm and cuddly, but with a sharp edge. He's only been going for a few months but has already graced stages from Falmouth to London to Glastonbury alongside acts from Mock The Week, QI and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
Mason Max: A local lad done good. A man not afraid to tell you a tale or two about his unique spin on things. Say it loud and say it proud. From issues with supermarket shifts to the joys of internet dating/waxing/I.B.S…
All hosted by:

Willtordian Ballorian Edwardian: The baby of the bunch moved to Plymouth 4 years ago and performed his first ever stand up set in the city. A man with a penchant for owls and a celebration of the absurd silliness of life! Expect chaos, music, prizes and owls....

Tickets are just £3.50 in advance or £5.00 on the door which is an incredible price for this line-up.
