About us
The Plymouth Athenaeum's 'Future Challenges Series' continues with a talk on Art and Energy: combining creativity & renewables, projects from around the world' on Tuesday, 19th November (2.30pm).The talk will be given by Chloe Uden, who founded Art and Energy CIC in January 2018.
Art and Energy CIC is a collective of artists trying to find ways to use their skills to respond to the climate emergency.
They approach the energy system through creativity, and work to make beautiful things that also give green energy, acting as a celebration and an antidote to fear and anxiety about the future.
New energy infrastructure is changing the places we live in and they believe many people don't like the look of it. They think that they can change that, creating installations that people want to live with.
Art and Energy CIC want to empower people to get involved in transforming power systems and working together, hoping to use energy for the good of the planet.

The Plymouth Athenaeum is partnering with organisations including The Royal Society for the Arts, Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Energy Community, Fotonow, Art and Energy and Environment Plymouth to create a series of talks focusing on local, national and global challenges.
The series kicked off in September with Athenaeum CEO, Owen Ryles, presenting 'Facing the Future: The challenges for Membership Societies in the 21st Century'. It was followed by a talk from Jackie Young, of Environment Plymouth, on the Plastic Free Plymouth campaign.
The third talk focused on 'Plymouth Sound: The UK's first Marine National Park' and the fourth in the series, by Fotonow's James Ellwood, considered youth climate action in Plymouth.
