Ahoy, Me Hearties - Plymouth’s Pirate Fun Run is back!
31st March 2025
Plymouth Waterfront Partnership (PWP) is calling all ye landlubbers and salty sea dogs to announce that the Pirate Fun Run will return as part of this year’s iconic Plymouth Pirates Weekend.
This nautical but nice 5km (and shorter 2.5km) adventure, supporting local charity Jeremiah’s Journey and in partnership with Taurus Events, will take participants on a scenic journey along Plymouth's historic waterfront. Walk, jog, or run – but don’t forget to don your favourite pirate attire and prepare for a swashbuckling good time from start to finish.
Plymouth Active will again lead the warm-up, and last year’s Plymouth Community Hero, Jo Connett, will have the honour of officially starting the fun run on the day.
Taking place on Sunday 18 May, this is more than just a fun run; it's a chance to make a real difference. All sponsor monies raised by participants will go towards Jeremiah's Journey, PWP’s chosen charity for Plymouth Pirates Weekend, supporting their vital work in our community. This year, PWP are delighted to announce that the fun run will officially be named ‘Jeremiah’s Journey Pirate Fun Run’.
Jon Walton and Kim Downer, Plymouth Waterfront Partnership:
“Don't miss out on this fun event and all in aid of a beloved local charity, Jeremiah’s Journey. We’re aiming for a ‘sea of pirates’ to join us this year! Is this a proclamation? Could we run 500 pirates more! Make sure you sign up soon.”
John Naismith, Jeremiah’s Journey:
"Jeremiah’s Journey are delighted to be partnering again with Plymouth Waterfront Partnership for the 2025 Pirate Fun Run, now officially named the 'Jeremiah's Journey Pirate Fun Run'
The support from partnering on events such as this is crucial for us. Not only does it generate significant funds to support us in our work, but the partnership raises the profile of Jeremiah’s Journey locally. Plymouth's Pirates Weekend brings in people from across the area and having our charity associated with the Pirate Fun Run gives Jeremiah’s Journey an additional level of awareness to many who may not otherwise know of the essential services that we provide to young people and their families at the saddest times in their lives.
Thank you PWP for your support."
The ever-popular Plymouth Pirates Weekend, now in its 14th year and hosted by PWP, returns to Britain’s Ocean City on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May. A treasure trove of free and paid-for family-friendly activities stretching across the entire waterfront, from the historic Barbican to the Royal William Yard, will be available for all to enjoy.
