Winners of the British Firework Championships 2024 announced
15th August 2024
Congratulations to BBB Fireworks for being named the winners of this year's British Firework Championships, in partnership with Associated British Ports.
The East-Sussex-based BBB Fireworks amazed spectators with the third and final display on the second night of the prestigious firework competition, which attracted thousands to watch on Plymouth Hoe for its 27th year.
Celestial Firework Displays from Leicestershire were named as the runners up while Pyrotex Fireworks claimed third place.
BBB Fireworks were awarded the title after TESA (the company who organise and adjudicate the British Fireworks Championships), removed the initially selected winners, Anytime Fireworks, from the competition due to a launching technicality.
“Following a review of the scoring and adjudicators reports after technical issues, and in consultation with our official judges, we have amended the result of the British Firework Championships 2024. The new 2024 winners are BBB Fireworks from Battle, East Sussex with Celestial Firework Displays from Leicestershire taking second place and Pyrotex Fireworks in third place”
Pyrotex Fireworks were crowned winners of the Young People's Choice Award. Now in its second year and sponsored by Plymouth Citybus, the prize is judged and presented by local, care-experienced children who mark the displays based on their variety, sequence, rhythm, colour and most importantly – the wow factor!
The British Firework Championships are hosted each year by Plymouth City Council in partnership with TESA.
The six professional fireworks companies that participated this year, listed in firing order, are
- Smart Pyrotechnics – Wiltshire 9.30pm
- Sky Rascal Fireworks – Somerset 9.50pm
- Pyrotex Fireworks – East Staffordshire 10.10pm
- Anytime Fireworks – Dorset 9.30pm
- Celestial Firework Displays – Leicestershire 9.50pm
- BBB Fireworks – East Sussex 10.10pm
The reserve firework company was Phoenix Fireworks from Kent.
This year's lead sponsors of the British Firework Championships were Associated British Ports, while the RNLI were the designated Charity Partner. Plymouth Citybus continued its commitment to the competition by supporting the Young People's Choice Award.
