The world class event is being hosted by Plymouth Youth Sailing in partnership with the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre and promises to be a showcase of young talent and a celebration of youth sailing.
Over 200 sailors are set to take part in the event, with competitors coming from as far as Australia, India and Argentina, along with European teams from Germany, Belgium, Poland, The Netherlands, Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
Adrian Kemp MBE, Commodore of Plymouth Youth Sailing says:
“Plymouth Youth Sailing is proud to be the host sailing club for this international event. Our dedication to developing young sailors aligns perfectly with the spirit of the championships. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase Plymouth’s excellent sailing facilities and inspire young people to get involved.”
Emma Denham, Centre and Operations Manager, Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre says:
“The Mount Batten Centre is the perfect choice as host venue for this world class event – not only because of the easy access for the sailors getting afloat in Plymouth Sound National Marine Park but also because of our on-site facilities including café and accommodation options. We look forward to welcoming the young sailors, their friends, families and guardians to our beautiful Britain’s Ocean City.”
The ABP World Cadet Sailing Championships offer a unique platform for aspiring sailors to showcase their skills and compete against the best in their age group. The Cadet class is renowned as the ‘training ground for champions’, with countless Olympic medalists having ‘learnt the ropes’ in this dynamic two-handed dinghy.
