Theatre Royal Plymouth recognised in prestigous national awards

Two Theatre Royal Plymouth co-productions, The Artist and The Devil Wears Prada have received ten nominations collectively for the prestigious WhatsOnStage Awards.
The WhatsOnStage Awards, unique for being entirely audience-voted, celebrate the very best of UK theatre, underscoring the incredible impact these productions have made on audiences and critics alike.
The Artist, a visually stunning adaptation of the Oscar-winning silent film, co-produced with The McOnie Company, starred Briana Craig, Robbie Fairchild and Gary Wilmot and premiered in Plymouth in May. Nominations are:
• Best Regional Production
• Best Direction – Drew McOnie
• Best Choreography – Drew McOnie
• Best Lighting Design – Zoe Spurr
• Best Video Design – Ash J Woodward
• Best Wigs, Hair and Make-Up – Georgia Nosal
Meanwhile, The Devil Wears Prada, the dazzling stage adaptation of the beloved book and film, which was produced with Kevin McCollum, Rocket Entertainment/David Furnish and Jamie Wilson, premiered at TRP throughout the summer and is now wowing audiences in the West End. This production has earned the following nominations:
• Best New Musical
• Best Performer in a Musical - Vanessa Williams
• Best Supporting Performer in a Musical - Amy Di Bartolomeo
• Best Wigs, Hair and Make Up - Campbell Young Associates

“These nominations reflect not only the exceptional talent of the creative teams and performers, but also TRP’s commitment to producing large-scale world-class theatre. Both productions began their journey with us in Plymouth, and it’s a privilege to see them celebrated on this scale.”
Voting for the WhatsOnStage Awards is open now until 9 January, and the winners will be crowned at the special concert ceremony on Sunday 9 February 2025, at The London Palladium.
