Festive cheer arrives at Drake Circus this weekend

Drake Circus and The Barcode has revealed its Christmas activity for this year, with a whole host of Christmas characters set to visit the centre throughout December.

This Sunday 8 December, the Elf & Safety team will once again be on hand to check shoppers are carrying their bags correctly, maintaining hydration and crossing the threshold into shops with caution. With their clip boards and hard hats at the ready, watch them work their magic with straight faces and ridiculous rules.

In the final countdown to Christmas, your favourite Sticky Bandits Harry and Marv will be on hand to cause chaos and belly laughs on Sunday 15 December, whilst visitors will be able to meet Polar Pip himself on Thursday 19 December as he gives out the best bear hugs in town.

What’s more, Plymouth City Brass will be roaming the centre on Thursday 19 and Monday 23 December, performing a whole range of festive favourites to help keep the Christmas spirit going right up until the big day itself.

It comes as Drake Circus announced the return of its hugely popular magical snow flurries every day at 4pm until Christmas Eve, with the centre transformed into a joyful white Christmas and offering shoppers the perfect snowy selfie.

Greg Lumley, centre director at Drake Circus and The Barcode, said: “We can’t wait to welcome visitors to the centre over the coming weeks to enjoy a whole host of festive fun as they pick up their Christmas shopping.

“We know how popular our Christmas characters are with shoppers, and we’re excited for them to join us once again at Drake Circus to spread some Christmas cheer! Whether it’s getting involved in our giant pass the parcel game or giving Polar Pip a cuddle, there’s something to get shoppers of all ages into the Christmas spirit this season!”

Drake Circus recently also hosted its annual festive light switch on, with visitors now able to enjoy the spectacular lights as they shop into the evenings.
