New children's soft play area coming to Drake Circus
1st October 2024
A new children's soft play area is coming to Plymouth's premier shopping centre.
Wild Things Play Project is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its newest play site, designed to provide children and families with an innovative and inclusive indoor play experience. The new location, within Drake Circus shopping centre situated in the heart of Plymouth, promises to be a vibrant hub for creativity, adventure and community engagement. With over 5000 ft2 of play space designed specifically for children aged 0 – 7 years old, the new site will open in December 2024.
Born in Bristol, Wild Things is soft play reimagined! Our immersive indoor play areas use all- natural materials to recreate the feel of outdoor play that allows kids’ imaginations to run wild. With full air conditioning and heating – all weather fun is guaranteed.
The Plymouth site will feature a wide range of play structures and natural elements that encourage children to explore, discover and learn through play. From climbing frames and interactive features to sand play and sensory spaces, the new play site will offer something for every young child, regardless of ability.
The centre will contain a toddler-specific area with a range of play equipment selected to encourage fine motor skill development, language and communication, physical and cognitive development, problem solving and understanding of the world.
And as you’d expect from an indoor play centre, there will be an area dedicated to private birthdays, that will host our nature-based crafting parties. When the space is not being used for parties, it will be a dedicated area for drawing and colouring.
We are installing a brand-new commercial kitchen that will deliver our all-new, extensive menu. It contains children’s favourites including freshly made pizza and pastas, jacket potatoes with a range of fillings and a full range of sandwiches, baguettes and paninis. We’ll have something for the grown-ups too, with a range of Nourish Bowls and salads, and of course the kid’s favourites will come in adult portions too. As well as the lunch and tea menu, we’ll be offering a range of breakfast sandwiches and muffins each morning to get the day started in style. And with tables outside the play centre and a takeaway service available, we’ll be catering for passing customers as well as those using the play facilities.
This menu will go alongside the food and beverage offer we’ve become known for – excellent barista coffee and artisan teas and hot choc, plus a range of excellent cakes and pastries from our local partners.
One of the standout features of the new Plymouth site is its emphasis on community. Our shiny new workshop space is separate from the main play area and is used in a number of different ways throughout the week, including craft sessions, kindergarten groups, afterschool clubs and kid's parties. It’s also available for private hire for local community groups.
"We are incredibly excited to open our new play site in Plymouth," said Oliver Stroud, founder of Wild Things Play Project. "Our mission is to create spaces where every child feels welcome, safe and inspired to play. We believe that this new site will become a cherished destination for families in the community."
The Wild Things Play Project is fully committed to sustainability and community involvement. The new site has been designed with the environment in mind, incorporating natural, sustainable materials and practices throughout its construction.
