Mayflower Muster and Rehabilitation Triathlon cancelled
23rd March 2021
Throughout the Mayflower 400 commemorations, the Armed Forces have been highly committed to the 400th anniversary programme in Plymouth.
Planning for the Mayflower International Festival included three elements for the week beginning 5 July 2021. The Rehabilitation Triathlon and the Mayflower Muster were planned building up to culmination of the Mayflower 400 commemoration year – the Mayflower 400 Four Nations Ceremony.
Thursday 8 July was planned as the date for the Rehabilitation Triathlon event on The Hoe with members of the armed forces from different nations taking part in the event, and the Mayflower Muster planned with navies from USA, Netherlands and UK on 10 July in Plymouth Sound.
However, due to supporting the changing needs of the COVID-19 Pandemic and other operational requirements, it will no longer be possible for the Armed Forces to commit to the Mayflower Muster or the Rehabilitation Triathlon events on Plymouth Hoe this July. The Armed Forces very much regret they will be unable to fully attend all the events for this much anticipated anniversary.
Planning for the Four Nations Ceremony on 11 July 2021 is still going ahead and an announcement is expected shortly on how the event will be delivered this summer.
To mark Armed Forces Day this year, there will be a flag raising in the city to acknowledge all our service personnel, past and present.
