Theatre Royal Plymouth re-opens with three fantastically festive Christmas shows
3rd December 2020
Theatre Royal Plymouth was forced to close its doors to the public over eight months ago in March but is now set to welcome audiences back from Tuesday 8 December with a fantastic Christmas season.
They will be bringing the much-needed theatrical Christmas sparkle back to Plymouth as the only theatre in the country offering not one, but three, socially distanced festive shows!
Following the success of their Culture Recovery Fund application and thanks to a fantastic initiative from The National Lottery, Theatre Royal Plymouth is bringing Christmas back to the city with a full socially distanced theatre programme.
The Gingerbread Man, a festive delight for little ones and their families is presented by Stuff and Nonsense and will be kicking off the season from Tuesday 8 December, with pantomime Robinson Crusoe starring Les Dennis, Connor McIntyre, Simon Webbe, Andy Ford and Jennie Dale raising the curtain for the first time on Saturday 12 December.
For an alternative Christmas comedy, Gonzo Moose will present The Thing That Came From Over There from Wednesday 9 December - inspired by the Horror movies of the 1950’s, a fast-paced rollicking ride, mixing paranoia, suspense and hilariously gruesome deaths awaits its audiences who like their Christmas cheer with a twist!
Adrian Vinken, CEO at Theatre Royal Plymouth said: “This is a really important moment for Plymouth and TRP. After such a long, bleak time to be able to welcome back our audiences to enjoy Christmas shows as usual is just wonderful. Public interest in the shows has been fantastic so we’re confident they’ll bring fun and energy back to the city centre, lift spirits and finally give people who’ve had such tough times this year something to smile about. And, of course, it will all happen in a safe, socially distanced way.
“None of this would have been possible without support from the Culture Recovery Fund and the generosity of Camelot. Christmas is officially back at TRP and we couldn’t be happier!!”
Tickets for all three shows are available to book on the TRP website here and all of the Theatre’s Covid Safe Environment information is also available here.
