Start your half-term adventure at The Box, Plymouth's fantastic museum, art gallery, and archive. This cultural hub is hosting a range of exciting exhibitions and events across the week, suitable for all different ages.
Explore the brand-new exciting exhibition John Lyons: Carnivalesque and immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Trinidad's carnival culture and mythology. Uncover Plymouth's hidden connections to Caribbean migration in another new exhibition Windrush in the Far South West which shares powerful stories of those who came to rebuild post-war Britain and their descendants, offering a unique glimpse into this lesser-known history. For younger children, join in on Family Fun: Wings and Wonderful Things, a creative half-term workshop influenced by John Lyons' exhibition! Create colourful bird puppets and masks inspired by the 'Jumbie birds' in the Carnivalesque exhibition and local Plymouth bird species.
Explore local National Trusts
Plymouth is close to a range of National Trust properties, each offering something unique, from historic houses and beautifully maintained gardens to natural woodlands and more.
Head to the stunning Saltram estate for plenty of half-term activities, including a free trail around the gardens, arts and crafts sessions, or a Wild Wednesday session. Buckland Abbey offers an extensive estate with beautiful gardens and woodlands to explore. Pick up a trail booklet and write your own fairytale as you discover the grounds! Cotehele is situated overlooking the River Tamar, this grand house was built in medieval times and has plenty of history for you to discover and learn about. Over half term there is a Little Gardeners family trail where you can help to make the gardens flourish.
Encounter amazing animals at Dartmoor Zoo
Embark on an adventure at Dartmoor Zoo this half-term! Join in the fun with ‘Find-It February,’ a thrilling daily treasure hunt where a golden envelope is hidden somewhere around the zoo. Be the first to find it and win a cuddly plush toy!
Home Park Stadium
Home Park, the home of Argyle Football Club, is more than just a venue for football matches. It also hosts a variety of events that are sure to keep your little ones entertained throughout half-term. Experience magic and mayhem at a fun magic show with Emazdad the magician and his mischievous pals, Stinky Rat and Marmite the Lion! Children can make their own magical wand and learn a trick.
For football fans, go behind the scenes at The Theatre of Greens with a Home Park Stadium guided tour, exploring areas usually off-limits to the public. Visit the media suite, dressing rooms, pitch side, and trophy cabinet!
National Marine Aquarium
Discover an underwater world at the National Marine Aquarium. Learn about the animals inhabiting our oceans, and with each ticket purchase, receive a free annual pass! To make it an even more of an unforgettable experience, try sleeping with the sharks. Explore the aquarium at night, learn about each of the tanks, and then settle down for a sleepover under the sharks in the Eddystone Reef tank.
