There's no better way to complete a sunny day in Plymouth than chilling out and watching the sun dip beyond the horizion.

Fortunately, here in Britain's Ocean Cty, we have so many stunning locations to enjoy golden hour, as the descending sun paints the sky with vibrant hues of orange, pink, and purple. Here are some of our top picks.

The Hoe

Undoubtedly one of the most iconic locations in Plymouth, The Hoe boasts uninterrupted panoramic views Plymouth Sound and the English Channel as the sunset. Watch as the sun casts its warm glow upon the stunning Smeaton's Tower, the sea and the distant silhouette of ships. The Hoe is the perfect blend of urban charm and tranquil beauty.

Wembury Beach

Located just a short drive from Plymouth is the simply stunning Wembury Beach. Pack a beach mat and a blanket and watch as the sun dips down over the Mewstone Island on the sea. The iconic Wembury Church perched on the cliffs adds a touch of character to this picturesque setting.

Jennycliff

For a more rugged and unfiltered sunset encounter, head to Jennycliff. This elevated spot rewards visitors with dramatic cliffside views overlooking Plymouth Sound and The Barbican and can be reached by taking a short ferry hop from the Barbican Landning Stage.

Mount Edgcumbe

Cross the River Tamar via the Cremyll Ferry to find yourself at Mount Edgcumbe, a historic country park and stately home. With its gorgeous grounds and vantage points, this location provides a more secluded sunset experience with views ranging across Plymouth Sound, Drake's Island and Plymouth.

Royal William Yard

Indulge in a blend of maritime history and modern sophistication at the Royal William Yard. This historic naval victualling yard has been revitalized into a hub of restaurants, shops, and apartments. The Yard's quayside offers a chic setting to enjoy the sunset, with the elegant architecture of the yard reflecting the sun's vibrant colors in its glass windows.
