Dir. Rob Marshall, 2023, US, 130 mins. Cast. Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy, Javier Bardem, Jonah Hauer-King, Akwafina.

The youngest of King Triton's daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father's crown – in jeopardy.

Both screenings will begin with an introduction from The Box about "The Time Is Always Now: Artists Reframe The Black Figure". The exhibition is free and on display until Sunday 29th September. You could make a day of it and visit The Box before or after your cinema trip!
31 July 11am: Fiona Evans, Community Development Producer
Wednesday 7 August 2.30pm: Sarah Marden, Curator.

Cinema snacks, hot and cold drinks available at our café from 9.30am. The Refectory at AUP will also be open to the public for lunch.

Our Family Friendly screenings are Relaxed. They are suitable for neurodiverse audiences and those with access requirements.
- Plymouth Arts Cinema is run by a small and friendly team of staff and volunteers.
- The volume is much lower than at a multiplex.
- The house lights are left on a little.
- You are welcome to bring personal items such as blankets, ear defenders, that will help you enjoy the film but do not disrupt other people's cinematic experience.
- Information to help you choose your seat: air circulation in the cinema is feeding from each side of the auditorium. It should feel cooler near the aisles on the front rows, warmer at the back.
- To find out more about accessibility in our building, please visit this page.
