The Strength of Spirit Games - Rehabilitation Triathlon, hosted by the Royal Navy, is back on Plymouth Hoe and Tinside Lido this summer. As part of Armed Forces week celebrations, the triathlon will take place on Thursday 26 June.
Come and show your support and admiration to the participants taking part in this year’s exciting triathlon, on Plymouth Hoe and Tinside Lido. The games will see service personnel on recovery duties and veterans compete in the swim, bike and row events. This triathlon that will get the crowds excitement going as you see the pure determination and commitment of those competing in this inspiring event.
The action will start at 11am from the historic Grade II listed Tinside Lido, overlooking the Plymouth Sound National Marine Park. Built in 1935, this beautiful Art Deco style salt water swimming pool is fully accessible to people of all needs. Participants will then head up onto the Hoe promenade for the cycle across and around the back of the Hoe, followed by the row on static rowing machines, before crossing the finishing line. The all-important awards ceremony will take place from the main stage, where competitors will find out their positions and receive their well-deserved awards.
For the second year running, we welcome 150 children from military families, as they take part in the thrilling Junior Rowing Challenge, organised by the Plymouth School Sports Partnership, on Plymouth Hoe. This exciting event will have pupils from over 20 primary schools competing in the demanding rowing challenge. Come and cheer them on from 10am to 11.15am.
