A new direction for beautiful award-winning Pentillie Castle as it re-opens
29th July 2020
Cornwall’s Pentillie Castle has re-opened its doors under a new guise on July 4, 2020, as one of the West Country’s most lovely and sought after wedding and private hire venues.
The multi-award winning 17th century Pentillie Castle, standing on the banks of the River Tamar, has built a reputation as one of the most prestigious wedding, Bed & Breakfast and corporate retreat venues in the West Country, winning golds at both the South West and Cornwall Tourism Awards.
As the country emerges from lockdown and the hospitality industry starts to reopen its doors with a new normal way of operating, Pentillie, which reopened on the 4th July 2020, is offering its grand private home from home exclusively for weddings and private hire to families or small groups whilst we navigate our way forward.
This transition will mean Pentillie will no longer take bookings for Bed and Breakfast, Afternoon Tea or Dinners for the foreseeable future, allowing us to effectively manage the safety of our guests and team.
“Pentillie has come a long way since opening in 2009 and we have learned a lot about what our guest’s value most. While it was quiet during lockdown, we’ve spent time thinking about the future for the Castle and our team,” says owner Sammie Coryton. “The privacy afforded by the estate is second to none, and this exclusivity is the very essence of the Pentillie offer for stunning weddings, celebrations and luxury holidays, hence our decision to focus on these aspects of our business for the foreseeable future.”
With regard to new ways of operating, Sammie continues, "Pentillie understands its customers' expectations around safety and cleanliness in response to Coronavirus and naturally this has meant there must be changes to the way it operates."
Pentillie does however plan to host a series of afternoon tea parties throughout the coming months to accommodate those holding afternoon tea gift vouchers. “We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the easing of lockdown than to have a series of fabulous afternoon teas in the terraced gardens,” says Sammie. Dates can be found on their website and social media pages, and those with afternoon tea vouchers will need to contact Pentillie to book their table.
Pentillie is incredibly grateful for the patience, support and understanding of their guests and followers over the last three and a half months and are very excited to welcome guests back to Pentillie in the near future.
- Guests who have unredeemed vouchers at the Castle need to contact the team to discuss options. Further information about Pentillie’s community events e.g. PenGrillie, Land Rover Defender Day and garden open days will be announced in due course.
- Afternoon Tea Parties will be held on the following dates, with tables prioritised for voucher holders, however, there will remain some capacity for new bookings.
- Monday 14th - Saturday 19th September
- Friday 25th September - Thursday 1st October
- Friday 6th - Tuesday 10th November
- Tuesday 15th - Thursday 17th December 2020.
