Embark on a culinary journey this food fortnight in Plymouth 

British Food Fortnight has arrived! The two-week-long celebration of food starts on Friday 20 September until Sunday 6 October and champions good food and diverse range of dishes to discover within Britain's Ocean City.  

To celebrate this event, we’ve picked out some top restaurants and venues in Plymouth to try out on your visit, which will take you on a culinary journey around the world.

Seafood Restaurants

The Boathouse Cafe: Situated just moments away from the iconic Mayflower Steps, The Boathouse Cafe prides itself on freshly-caught food, with fish dishes regularly caught in the morning served up in the evening. The hand-dived scallops are a must! 

Hook and Line: Located in the historic Royal William Yard, Hook and Line offers a simple yet delicious menu serving a mix of the freshest seafood delights caught with their own fishing boats.  Not only that but there is a weekly BBQ & Fish Market! If you love their seafood so much, why not check out their newly-opened fishmonger and deli on The Barbican.

Rockfish: A relaxing way to enjoy sustainable seafood. Quality and freshness are key at Rockfish which is why the daily landings menu features the pick of the best fish landed each morning at Brixham fish market. Situated next to the National Marine Aquarium, it's the perfect place to stop for lunch overlooking Sutton Harbour.

Ocean View at the Dome: Panoramic views and an Art Deco interior makes for an unforgettable experience at Ocean View. Enjoy fresh, local and seasonal produce with a menu that caters for all tastes with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.  

  

Taste of Asia

Pho: Take a trip to the Royal William Yard and enjoy fresh and healthy Vietnamese food at Pho. With a varied menu, you can find everything from colourful salads and hearty rice bowls to fragrant curries. The Summer rolls are an absolute must-try!  

Supha’s: Enjoy delicious Asian street-food with a view of Sutton Harbour at Supha’s Stret Food Emporium. The emphasis is on seasonal produce and sharing fresh food with many of the options being vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free.  

B-Bar: Perhaps one of the only places in Devon where you can enjoy fragrant Asian dishes served with a side of theatre. Not only is the B-Bar known for its fresh and funky food but also for its live entertainment. It is a must-visit for art enthusiasts and food lovers alike.

Cosmic Kitchen: A family-run, vegan bistro with the ethos- Good Mood Food! The menu at Cosmic Kitchen is 100% plant-based and is committed to providing delicious, nutritious and affordable food for all to enjoy.  

Hedgerow Hound: The perfect spot for those looking for a vibrant, plant-based and delicious dining experience. Situated in Plymouth Market, the Hedgerow Hound has plenty to offer with its seasonally based fresh menu.   

Bonne Sante: A chic restaurant and cocktail bar on The Barbican built on a vision of offering a wide range of fresh and nutritious food. Bonne Sante offers a variety of dishes catering to different dietary needs including many tasty vegan dishes.

Mediterranean food

Barbican Pasta Bar: The ideal family-friendly spot, the large menu at Barbican Pasta Bar offers something for everyone from fresh pasta and homemade pizza to grilled and pan-fried dishes. All of the fantastic food is cooked to order using only the finest, freshest ingredients.  

Leandra: A family-run restaurant which has been going for over 30 years, Leandra offers outstanding Greek cuisine. The menu boasts traditional Greek food from succulent Lamb Kleftico through to the authentic Cypriot Meze, it's the perfect place to sample a huge range of the country’s delicacies.  

Knead Pizza: Passion for all things pizza and years of hospitality brought the vision of Knead Pizza to life. Located a short walk away from The Barbican, Knead has cracked the secret to a superb quality Neapolitan Style pizza which can be polished off with mouth-watering desserts!

Jolly Jacks: Situated on the picturesque waterfront, Jolly Jacks offers a serene dining experience complimented by breath-taking views of the marina.  The menu focuses heavily on the finest catches of the day, cooked without fuss, allowing the quality produce to showcase itself. The Seafood Chowder is highly-recommended!  

Salumi: An inviting eatery known for its stylish atmosphere and focus on high-quality locally sourced ingredients. Salumi offers a diverse menu of British classics with a twist, it combines bold flavours with a relaxed dining experience making it perfect for a romantic date night.  

The Fisherman’s Arms: One of Plymouth’s oldest pubs, The Fisherman’s Arms describes itself as a country pub in Britain’s Ocean City. Offering real ales, traditional pub food, and a cozy interior filled with candlelit tables and an open fire, it’s hard not to feel at home here. 

  

Burgers

Zephyr: First making a name for themselves on the street food scene in London, Zephyr Burgers are well-known for their delicious Californian-inspired smash burgers. A welcoming dining space with a lively atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to spend an evening.  

Tilt Burgers: A family-run restaurant specializing in street food, there are not many places in Plymouth that you can get a delicious section of street food tapas. Whether you are in the mood for a traditional cheeseburger or something more adventurous this burger joint has plenty to offer.  

Cap’n Jaspers: An essential Plymouthian experience, Cap’n Jaspers has stood on the Barbican since 1978 serving up fine, fresh food. The perfect place to grab a burger and head for a walk along the seafront.
