Summer is here and there are plenty of great events taking place in Plymouth this August!

From some of the city's headline events, live music concerts, open days, markets and more there is plenty of fun to be had in Plymouth this month. We've shortlisted things you can look forward to attending this August, take a look. British Firework Championships

Once again the coveted British Firework Championships are back on Plymouth Hoe on 14-15 August. Get ready for two nights of firework fun in the skies above Plymouth Sound.

The fun starts at 2pm when the fairground and catering stalls open, and as the buildup gathers hype with stilt walkers and fire performers around the grounds, get ready for a packed programme of live music on the main stage beside the sea.

                   

West End Carnival

The West End Carnival is back in Plymouth on Saturday 24 August. The vibrant streets of the city centre's West End will be bursting with colour on the day as the carnival rolls into town.

This year's theme is Mythical Dragons so get ready to experience Ash the Dragon as he flaps his wings around the West End. Get ready to celebrate with the carnival parade, live music performances and traders set to line the streets of the area throughout the day.

                     

Live in the Park

Experience three days of unforgettable music this month in Plymouth at Live in the Park from 14-17 August. Live in the Park will see themed days of Symphonic Ibiza, Rob Lamberti (A Tribute to George Michael), and an 80s night take to the stage!

                

Experience The Box's latest exhibition

Head to the award-winning The Box Plymouth Museum this summer and discover some of the hottest names in contemporary art at The Time is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure exhibiton. With large-scale, dazzling works that ask questions about race, identity and history, it's a celebration of some of the most exciting artists who are working today, and the only chance to see the show outside of London before it travels to America. Entry to the exhibition, like the rest of the amazing museum, is free.

   

Markets

Start the month with a shopping spree at the Royal William Yard Good Food and Craft Market on Sunday 4 August. The Market is always a highly popular event beside the sea. Hosted on the lawn, get ready to explore a plethora of locally made gifts which are unique to the market. Furthermore, there is plenty of great food to chow down on during your stay, with a mouthwatering array of vendors dishing up delights throughout the day between 10am and 3pm. 

The month finishes with the Bazaar Marketplace at The Box Museum on Saturday 31 August! Hosted from 10am-4pm enjoy an array of local vendors displaying exceptional and skilfully crafted products. Indulge in different cultural experiences and immerse yourself in a vibrant atmosphere with live music and entertainment.

                 

RNLI Open Day

Celebrate the 200-year anniversary of the RNLI at the Royal William Yard this August. Join the crew from Plymouth Lifeboat Station and other amazing RNLI volunteers for a day of demonstrations, activity and awareness of the charity. Head to the yard between 10am and 3pm on Sunday 11 August to make sure you don't miss a bit of the action.

                 

Big Tribute Fest

Get your singing voices at the ready for the return of the Big Tribute Festival. 3 days of live music is in store from the 9-11 August in Pymouth's Central Park. Get your tickets and step inside the HUGE 4,500-capacity tent together with a huge stage production, lighting and visuals. There's also a huge selection of food & drinks around the site location!

Experience tributes to some of the top names in the music scene with Ed Sheeran, Queen, Spice Girls, Abba, Take That Dua Lipa, and more among the performances at the event.

                      

Mount Edgcumbe Classic Car Show

Classic car lovers and petrol heads will be in for a treat this August with the return of the Mount Edgcumbe Classic Car Show and Summer Fayre on Sunday 4 August.

Get ready for more than 900 classic cars on the day as well as over 100 stalls selling crafts, jewellery, food and drink outlets including a licensed bar, bouncy castles, fairground rides and family-friendly entertainment from jazz music to magicians.
