The Royal William Yard, a masterpiece of Architectural design for the Royal Navy.
Conceived in 1824 and finally finished in 1835, this complex is Grade I listed and considered to be one of the most important groups of historic Military buildings in Britain and the largest collection of Grade I listed military buildings in Europe.
Designed to provide victuals and necessary supplies to the War ships of the Royal Navy, the Yard sits in a majestic setting at the mouth of the mighty River Tamar, opposite the grand Mount Edgcumbe Country Park and is conveniently located on the south west coast path.
Now a chic and vibrant place to work, rest and play, you’ll find plenty to do at the Yard, including arts, crafts, food, drink, fashion and fitness.
Come and join us on a walking tour of one of Plymouth's best hidden secret and be amazed at its transition from the past to it's present.
Your tour will start and end in the Bakehouse Café and Stores situated in Ocean Studios, Royal William Yard. Upon completion of the tour will be served a delicious traditional Devonshire cream tea and you will also have the opportunity to shop for unique, handmade souvenirs created by the resident artists of the Studios.
