America's Secret D-Day Tragedy Tour, Devon

Pick up in Plymouth and drive through the beautiful Devon countryside to Slapton Sands. Tea, coffee and pastries available on arrival. We then reveal one of the biggest hidden secrets of WWII involving American Military personnel preparing for their D-day landings on Utah and Omaha Beaches.
Visit the beach where Part 1 of these tragic events happened on the morning of 27th April 1944. Then and now photo opportunities provided. Short drive through villages which were evacuated on 6 weeks’ notice to accommodate 15,000 American personnel in December 1943. Stop at Blackpool Sands and reveal Part 2 of the tragic events. ‘Then’ and ‘now’ photo opportunities provided. Drive back through idyllic Devon countryside to Normandy Hill, Plymouth and see where the American Military Base was situated. Walk down the US Army’s Route 23 from Normandy Hill to Saltash Passage where the 5th and 7th Corps embarked their ships for their final journey to Utah and Omaha beaches on D-Day.
