Spend the day (c. 7 hours) exploring one of Devon’s most historic and scenic harbour towns and the stunning estuary of the River Dart set deep in the Devon landscape.  Your qualified Blue Badge Guide will bring alive the local stories of the Mayflower Pilgrims as they share with you the history of the people and the locations that are key to the start of their journey to America.

Dartmouth provided a safe haven for the Mayflower Pilgrims in August 1620 whilst urgent repairs were made to the Speedwell for the pioneering voyage to the New World. The entrance to the harbour is guarded by a late medieval fort with superb views of the surrounding coast and an excellent exhibition.

Explore the Tudor buildings that the Pilgrims would recognise today, visit Bayard’s Fort and Cove and discover Dartmouth’s renowned artistic and foodie culture on a guided walk with your local Blue Badge Guide.
