Experience the magnificent Cathedral and link to Francis Scott Key’s famous poem, Defence of Fort McHenry, set during the War of 1812 and wander close by to uncover the city that nurtured leaders in the Methodist and Sunday School movements.
The Highlights:
- Enjoy an organ recital of The Star-Spangled Banner at Gloucester Cathedral, a truly profound experience followed by a tour of one of Europe’s most impressive medieval buildings.
- Explore over 2,000 years of the city’s history and learn more about Charles Dickson, Beatrix Potter and Robert Raikes, a pioneer in the Sunday School movement.
- Visit and experience an impressive 15th Century chapel, from where one of the founders of Methodism and the Evangelical movement, George Whitefield was educated; and the pulpit where he preached his first sermon.
A half-day tour will include a local Civic Trust Guide.
