A superb opportunity to bring your family history to life by visiting, the county of Cornwall from where almost twenty-five per cent of the population emigrated in the 19th century. Many Cornish people crossed the River Tamar to England, or left for the United States of America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Central and South America and South Africa. As a result, some 6 million people world-wide can proudly claim Cornish ancestry.
Departing from Plymouth we travel towards West Cornwall visiting UNESCO Cornish Mining World Heritage sites in the Camborne / Redruth and West Penwith areas. Our panoramic tour passes through areas where traditional villages and towns from where families emigrated are located. Enjoy iconic views of coast and countryside, including that of St Michael’s Mount, as you wind your way around the Cornish lanes, stopping along the way to enjoy a miner’s lunch of a ‘pasty and pint’ or to indulge in a Cornish Cream Tea.
Your qualified Cornish Blue Badge Guide will bring alive stories of the Cornish people’s history, traditions, folklore, religion and locations that shaped lives and can help you make the very best use of you time.
If you happen to know where your ancestors were born, lived, went to church, were married or died and were buried, supply a little information in advance and a unique tour can be designed especially for you.
