About us

Located at the centre of a picturesque valley on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, Buckfast Abbey is home to a community of Roman Catholic Benedictine Monks, who live their lives in prayer, work and study according to the ancient rule of St Benedict. As part of our considerable hospitality offering at Buckfast Abbey, we have our Conference Centre.

Buckfast Abbey Conference Centre is the perfect place to host an inspirational conference, training course, business meeting, lunch, or special event. With our dedicated team of event professionals; you can be sure of a successful event with us.

Conveniently located midway between Exeter and Plymouth, just off the A38. With a selection of fully equipped, flexible rooms, lots of outside space and ample free car parking. There are seven meeting rooms hosting groups of up to 130 people, each of which has been enhanced with the very latest audiovisual equipment, to aid training, presentations or business events.

The majority of the rooms overlook beautifully maintained gardens that surround the Abbey. Our largest room, Schiller Hall, has completed its extensive and exciting refurbishments as well as our new Clifford Suite that is perfect for hot-desk working and small private meetings. All rooms are accessible for disabled users.

The Conference Centre is renowned for the quality of its food, our chefs prepare and cook all food daily, even including the biscuits at refreshment break times. All rooms come with a range of equipment including: flip charts, pens and paper, large screen and projection facilities, Wi-Fi, Audio facilities, connectivity via HDMI Cable, a built-in PC, white and pin boards.

On-site accommodation for residential conferences and events is available at the 33 bedroom on-site Northgate House Hotel, or group accommodation at Grangehurst House.
