Theatre Royal
The Theatre Royal Plymouth is the largest and best attended regional producing theatre in the UK and the leading promoter of theatre in the South West. There are three distinctive performance spaces: The Lyric, The Drum and the workshop space, The Lab.
The Theatre Royal Plymouth serves the South West with a wide range of theatre including classic and contemporary drama, musical productions and the presentation of national opera, ballet and dance companies. It also specialises in the production of new plays and has built a national reputation for the quality of its innovative work.
Theatre Royal Plymouth hosts unrivalled set, costume, prop-making and rehearsal facilities at our architecturally award-winning Production and Learning centre, TR2. The site also accommodates the majority of the theatre’s Creative Learning Programme which aims to creatively engage with a broad spectrum of young people and communities in Plymouth and beyond.
Market Hall – Immersive Dome Experience
The next big thing in immersive tech – nestled in the heart of one of Plymouth’s most historic neighbourhoods. The Market Hall was formerly the market for the whole of Devonport. Full of original features, the renovation of the building by the Real Ideas Organisation has created a space that combines traditional elements with state-of-the-art immersive technology.
The impressive new extension to the historical building hosts the 15m diameter immersive dome –inspired by the dome at SAT in Montreal and the first of its kind in Europe – invites you to explore immersive realities, without the need for a VR headset, opening up a world of incredible creative and immersive experiences (a great way to discover new things, or to simply just enjoy the show).
Market Hall will also be home to an extensive co-work facility, events and meeting spaces for work events, community projects, and an accessible and welcoming space for simply fun events too. There will also be a large café on site, providing a place to catch up with colleagues or chat about the world at large with your friends.
The community café is now open! Join us Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm and Saturday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
